Why have I received a parking fine when my permit is valid?

The RingGo parking service is unable to directly answer any questions relating to the issue of a parking fine as we have no involvement in the enforcement process. However, you are likely to receive a parking fine if you own/use more than one vehicle and have not amended the active permit vehicle(s) on your permit prior to parking.

For example, with Greater Anglia permits/rail season tickets, you are only able to store one vehicle against the permit at any one time. Should you be parking a different vehicle on a different day, you must ensure that you amend your active permit vehicle each time to reflect these changes.

To amend your active permit vehicle, simply follow these instructions:

  • Login to RingGo
  • Click 'Help' in the top right corner of the page
  • Under the Popular Questions heading, select Change vehicle(s) on session / permit
  • Select the relevant permit using the drop-down menu
  • Highlight the existing vehicle(s) you wish active against the permit from the 'My vehicles' menu or use the vehicle 1/2/3 columns to add a new vehicle
  • Click 'Next' to apply the changes!

If you had not amended your vehicle on the permit prior to the parking fine being issued, this is the likely reason for the parking fine.

Unfortunately, the enforcement operator will not allow us to intervene with any aspect of the appeal process, as it is their strict policy that customers contact them directly in writing. They issue the fines and consequently they are the only ones able to cancel them. You should as such follow the appeals procedure which is normally dictated on the back of the ticket itself.

To support that you had a valid parking permit at the time of issue, we can supply you with a standard appeal template letter for you to send to the enforcement operator in appeal, together with a VAT receipt as proof of payment.

To obtain the appeal template letter, follow these instructions:

  • Click 'Help' in the top right corner of the page
  • Complete all required fields with the information requested
  • We will email you in return with the appeal template letter specific to your case and VAT receipt

Once you have received the appeal template letter and VAT receipt this should be forwarded to the enforcement operator using the details dictated on the ticket itself.
