I've received a fine because my vehicle registration was incorrect. What should I do next?

The most likely reason for receiving a parking fine having used the RingGo parking service is that the incorrect vehicle registration plate was entered upon parking whether this be selecting the wrong vehicle from an existing vehicle list or accepting an invalid interpretation of your attempt using our speech recognition software.

Upon the interpretation being read to you by our automated system, you are asked to speak 'Yes' or 'No' to confirm the vehicle registration offered. This places the onus on the motorist to ensure that they do not accept the vehicle offered should they have any doubts over the interpretation being 100% accurate. Failure to do so will mean that you are liable to receiving a parking fine.

There are many different variances that can affect the quality of the recording when using our speech recognition programme, i.e. background noise, wind interference, loss of mobile signal, similar sounding characteristics, etc. For this reason, we recommend that the location code is obtained from local signage and all calls to our service are then made from inside your vehicle in order to better control the environment and significantly enhance first time success.

If you have received a parking fine you must write to the enforcement operator as per their appeals process (full details are normally dictated on the back of the ticket). Unfortunately we are both strictly and contractually prevented from being able to intervene in an appeals procedure.

Although you may well have received a parking fine you do still have a right to appeal. If you had definitely paid for parking with the RingGo parking service at the time the parking fine was issued, we can supply you with a standard appeal template letter for you to send to the enforcement operator in appeal, together with a VAT receipt as proof of payment.

To obtain the appeal template letter, follow these instructions:

  • Login to your RingGo account
  • Click 'Help' in the top right corner of the page
  • Complete all required fields with the information requested
  • We will email you in return with the appeal template letter specific to your case and VAT receipt!

In order to amend your registration for future parking sessions with the RingGo parking service and to avoid the same situation arising, you should update your vehicle details from the 'My Vehicles' page of your RingGo account. Alternatively, you can amend your existing vehicles using our mobile apps.
