The new app doesn’t work on my iPhone
The new iPhone app only operates on phones which run on iOS 8.3 or higher. If you haven’t downloaded the latest iPhone software updates, please add these and try again.
The new app only functions with iOS 8.3 or higher, so if you are unable to upgrade your operating system to this level you will automatically remain on the existing app.
If you are still having problems, please delete and reinstall the app either through your handset (easiest) or from the iTunes store (https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/ringgo-parking/id342898717?mt=8) and see if that fixes the issue. It may be that there was a mobile network fault during your download which affected its safe loading.
If you are still having difficulty, please contact RingGo direct by using the myRingGo website at www.myRingGo.co.uk/help (select app feedback from the popular links).
In the meantime if you can’t pay by the app it may be easiest to pay for your parking through the mobile website https://m.myringgo.co.uk/ (also accessible on iPhones via Safari by searching for RingGo) or by calling 020 3046 0060.
What major changes have you made?
We’ve improved the efficiency of the app by highlighting only those zones that are nearest your current location. You can still search for locations further afield, but you do these via the map or the search bar.
It’s also quicker because, once you’ve selected your location, you can use the drop down menus to choose your vehicle, set the duration and make payment (enter your security code). While it may take a little while to get used to the new layout, we think you’ll soon find it much faster than the old version.
If you have a single vehicle on your account, this will automatically be selected each time you park. If you have multiple vehicles on your account, you will be asked to select the correct one: your default vehicle will be shown first.
On the previous app, many people parked the wrong vehicle and then either received a parking charge notice or had difficulty changing the details. So now, if you have more than one vehicle on the same account, we ask you just to quickly confirm which one you are parking each time.
Having difficulty finding a space? Why not check out our space availability flags? These indicate where you’re most likely to find a space. A simple traffic light feature shows red, amber or green to highlight where we think that more spaces will be available.
Why have you changed the app now?
RingGo was the first UK cashless parking solution to offer parking by app when it launched in January 2010. While significant improvements have been made to the app and how it operates over intervening years, some of the underlying base code has remained the same.
Recent advances in app coding and mapping have meant that today’s apps operate much more efficiently than when they were first launched, and it is this that has led us to rework our solution.
Overall, reviews on the iTunes store about the app remain good, but we were increasingly receiving feedback that the app wasn’t working as efficiently as it could have been, especially following recent iOS updates.
The new version has therefore been designed to operate significantly quicker and more efficiently than the old one.
Why did you not tell me about the launch of the new app?
Most apps these days are just updated via the iTunes store, so this is a fairly standard procedure.
RingGo has communicated the change via a number of channels, including social media and the myRingGo website. We can only apologise if you did not see these messages.
We also think the new version is pretty intuitive, so we hope you’ll grow to like it very quickly indeed.

Are any of the other RingGo apps changing?
The Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry versions of the RingGo app were developed some time after the iPhone app and so benefit from more modern coding and operate with greater efficiency. While upgrades may occur to these in due course to reflect the new iPhone look and feel, there are no immediate changes planned.
